Outer Town of Juyong |
The Outer Town of Juyong, located to the east of the Pass, is actually the eastern gate of the Pass. Inscribed at the forehead with the four Chinese characters ¡°Outer Town of Juyong¡±, it was built in the 18th year of Emperor Jiajin of Ming Dynasty (1539). It was an important pass for military defense and traffic route in the old days. As a result of erosion over all these years, the characters on the inscribed board have been obscure. The gate is built of bricks, upon which is a platform. There is a break at each side to join the walls of the Pass. The platform is surrounded with brick forts.
